A Detail of the Events

I. It all started September 03, 2025, at 2:30 pm
Joey Portrait   The Clinic

Joey arrived at Club Hill Animal Clinic in Garland Texas for a simple routine nail trim. When Joey jumped

out of the car outside he then ran up the front ramp to the front door of the clinic pulling his Daddy

behind him.

Once inside Joey began barking at everyone to announce he was here. One of the staff directed us

to ROOM 4. Joey was checking out all the smells as a normal dog would do.

Dr. Dilpreet Atwal   Dr. Dilpreet Atwal entered the room barely looked at Joey running around on the

floor and started talking about him recommending full blood work and several tests to see why Joey

had very little hair on his back. He said the tests would cost starting at $800.

If he had looked at Joey's medical records from when Joey first visited this clinic back in 2014, he would

have seen where the previous Dr. had made comments on this exact issue and Dr. Jan Dewitt told us

a waste of money.

Obviously annoyed by my decline for the expensive testing he began dragging Joey on his leash

to the back room for the nail trim. We waited in Room 4 and about 15 minutes later we heard

Joey give out 2 normal barks, and then about 15 seconds later we heard 2 more barks that were

so different and muffled we actually thought it was another dog in the building. These barks

were strained and barely audible.

Then 5 minutes later the door to the back room opened and the practice manager, Lizbeth, came

in the room. We thought Joey was ready to go. But Lizbeth came in the room alone and asked if

we had a DNR in place. We just looked at her puzzled. She told us "OK Joey stopped breathing,

do you want to to try to resuscitate him". Joey's Mom said "Do something, you are the medical

people. I then said "I want to see him", Liz told me it will be a few minutes and turned to walk out

the room. I told her "HELL NO I WANT SEE HIM NOW" and followed her through the door.

It was there I saw Joey lying on a table, motionless, with Dr. Atwal doing a half-assed attempt

at CPR doing 2 finger light pokes on Joey's chest. Joey was laying on his left side and had a

oxygen mask lying loosely next to his nose.

II. Concerns Raised During the Visit

Proper CPR on a dog is done with the dog on his right side, using two hands, and holding his mouth

closed and blowing air in his noise to force the lings to fill up and the chest rise every 20 seconds.

See proper procedure here at Petmd.com

This Doctor did not even know how to do CPR correctly. When I looked at Joey's face and

called his name he didn't move at all. I watched his eyes and there was nothing. Joey was

already completely DEAD.

No explanation of why this happened and no visible sign of any remorse, as if this was a normal

occurrence on any normal day. Little did we know apparently this has happened way too many

times at this clinic.

Allegation: The family reports that communication and decisions made during Joey's visit did not meet the expected standard of care.

III. Joey's Death

Joey was out of my sight for 20 minutes or less. He left that room running on his leash and was

given back me wrapped in a blanket.......DEAD

Joey Returned to me DEAD

This is all I have left of my Joey

Family account: Joey died following the events of the visit. The family is seeking a complete, documented explanation and accountability.
